The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers hosted the Moriarty Pintos at home Saturday for a critical district matchup doubleheader.

The Toppers started off slow in the first game but their sticks heated up, crossing home plate 11 times to the Pintos 2. In the second game, it was all green and gold with a commanding 14-0 victory.

New Mexico’s primary election is a few weeks away, on June 4. As attentive voters know, in New Mexico the primary election is at least as important as the general. Depending on your district, you might have a little work to do researching your choices, and it’s time to get started.

As usual, many counties are dominated by one party or the other and the primary is the decisive race for local positions like county commissioners and county clerk. Chavez and Lea counties, for example, have only Republicans running for county commission. Read More

Jews around the world are winding down the last few days of Passover. Passover, which always starts on a full moon in the spring, began this year on the evening of Monday, April 22, and continues through Tuesday night, April 30. County Seeks Volunteers For May Trails Day

The Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space team is seeking volunteers to help them work to rejuvenate the Pueblo Canyon Rim Trail on May 11 for May Trails Day. 

Volunteers will enhance trailhead access, repair eroded sections, build water diversions and clear overgrown vegetation. “Let’s make our trails better together!”

ESPAÑOLA — Zaiden Lopez, a McCurdy Charter School 6th grade student, is now an award-winning filmmaker for his film “Blue Heron”. Sunday, April 7, 2024, Zaiden received the Best Middle School Drama award at the Film Prize Junior New Mexico competition. Zaiden’s film was one of 167 films from 80 schools throughout New Mexico.

The award ceremony was held at Albuquerque’s New Mexico Hispanic Cultural Center. With a full weekend of events, students could watch other films that were entered and take their moment on the red carpet.
